iBook Battery followup

Οκτωβρίου 27th, 2006 ktolis No comments

Well as you might have guessed already I finally got my iBook replacement battery back. My aunt got it in Germany last Friday and mailed it to me. I had it on Tuesday already
and got consumed installing it in my iBook ;) . First step was to calibrate it. I used CoconutBattery to get some more details about the battery and it seems to be 4% more juicy than the last one.

Apart from that I got a a new HD too. 100GB Hitachi 7200rpm 8MB cache pata disk. The difference is quite noticable and I think the disk is a bit colder too. I wouln’t say quiter but at least it isn’t draining the battery more than the last one.

How to become the next Gaming Messiah

Οκτωβρίου 9th, 2006 ktolis No comments

Get a gip how OpenGL works. Write your first stupid code. See how it works and repeat the procedure under Direct3D/X. Now make a Visual Studio template that directly creates your dummy example as a new “MyNextGenerationUltraYouMustBuyMeFramework”. Modify Visual Studio with a new skin. Present it as the new messiah tool framework and demand money for it. Because people can’t read long words rename it to XNA Express Studio and you are ready.

Of course you could also use Ogre3D which is the same shit but also complete open source’d and runs (in 1.3 at least) under all Windows platforms and all other console systems and on OS X (and linux stfu now). But then you might not be able to charge for it as “your completely uber idea”.

XNA allows me to remember how stupid people can be. I am talking about the consumers in this case.

Apple Battery Exchange ??? (Updated 2x)

Οκτωβρίου 4th, 2006 ktolis No comments

Well I haven’t got my battery and couldn’t find any contact details so I posted at the webmaster since it’s his fault there are no contact e-mails there. Lets see what happens now..

Dear Sir/Madam,

I tried to find some contact information regarding your iBook battery exchange program (https://depot.info.apple.com/batteryexchange/index.html) since I have a battery that is eligible for replacement but haven’t found any. This is why I am trying to communicate this way. Please forward this e-mail to the correct department.

I have visited https://depot.info.apple.com/batteryexchange/index.html and found out that I have a battery that must be exchanged and reported through this form two weeks ago. I since have got no response from any Apple (or Apple Europe) department nor got the mentioned replacement battery package from which I must return by old battery. I mentioned my address in Germany where you can send me the package but I haven’t received anything yet. This is my contact data i entered at the form:

Phone: —–
Battery S/N: HQ449LXR8LB
iBook S/N/: UV4450GES87
Address: —–
City: —–
Postal Code: —–

If it is possible I can send you my address in Greece too but I haven’t found any option at the above mentioned form.

I look forward towards some answers regarding this matter.

We Want Apple Greece

Οκτωβρίου 4th, 2006 ktolis No comments

I stumbled upon WeWantAppleGreece.com last week. It’s another effort to bring Apple in Greece. Things tend to be forgotten and somebody should finally start talking about the situation.

The site is built upon the foundations of http://www.helmug.gr and (now gone) unicode.helmug.gr which me and mitsakos created looong time ago. At that time nobody else than us two thought or did anything beyond imagination. It was a nice experience finding and socializing more than 2500 people that nobody new they existed in less than two years. It’s good to see that our absense finally made their minds spin a bit and get to work. I still stick to the original spirit of the organization which allowed me and mitsakos’ to get the exploding growth of the user group.

I hope to kickstart MacPro.gr within October but first i gotta’ get my exams off my back together with my vrochitis which plagues me for more than a week now.
